 CLASS 3  –  DENVER V. C. PRIMARY SCHOOL  –  AUTUMN TERM 2016

Dear Parent/Carer,

Welcome to the new school year, we will be doing lots of exciting things this year and here is a flavour of what we will be working on this term.

Literacy: We are looking at Myths and Legends, Information texts and poetry this term.

Numeracy: In Numeracy we will be looking at place value and the four operations.

Science: We will be investigating Sound and States of Matter.

Design and Technology: We will be investigating how to use electrical control in our projects.

Computing: This term in our  lessons we will be looking at programing.

History: We will begin to look at the Roman Empire and its impact on Britain.

Geography: We will be looking at geographical similarities and differences.

Art and Design: We will look at Dreams, Fantasy Worlds and the work of the Surrealists.

Music: We will make descriptive sounds and explore ideas under the title – Animal Magic.

PE: This term we will be playing striking and fielding games. Children should bring in their PE kits each Monday and take them home on the Friday.

RE: This term we will be looking at Christianity and its Key Beliefs.

PHSE/Citizenship: We will be looking at being healthy and staying healthy.

French: We will be exploring French, working on phrases and words which we might need in school or where you live.

Homework: Maths homework will be set on Monday to be returned the following Wednesday. English homework will be set on Wednesdays to be handed in the following Friday. Spellings will also be set, some children find it extremely beneficial to read these with their parents/carers and your support in this is very welcome. Additionally if your child is a developing reader it is important that they get as much support at home as possible through reading and sharing books.

If you have any queries about your child please feel free to contact me. Sometimes conversations at the beginning of the day are not easy as lessons need to be started promptly so after school meetings would be preferable.

I look forward to the exciting year ahead with Class 3.
