CLASS 4  –  DENVER V. C. PRIMARY SCHOOL  –  SPRING TERM 2014

Dear Parent/Carer,

Here is a flavour of what Class 4 will be working on this term.

Literacy: We are looking at Recounts and Persuasive Writing this term.

Numeracy: In Numeracy we will begin by looking at decimals, fractions and coordinates.

Science: We will be investigating Gases and Changing States.

Design and Technology: We will be designing, creating and evaluating our own Musical Instruments.

ICT: This term in our ICT lessons we will be looking at Spreadsheets and Analysing Data.

History and Geography: We will look at Australia, its history, location and diversity.

Art and Design: We will be undertaking a group textiles project.

Music: In music the Year 6 children will continue to improve on their Ocarina skills and the Year 5 children will be continuing their clarinet sessions.

PE: This term we will be Swimming on Tuesdays and Gymnastics on Wednesdays. Children should ensure they have the appropriate kit for the correct day.

RE: This term we will be looking at Judaism: Beliefs, Teachings, People, Worship and Sacred Places.

PHSE/Citizenship: We will be continuing our ‘Be the Best You can Be’ sessions.

French: As well as revising previous learning we will be working on phrases and words which we might need in connection with the family, the alphabet and pets.

Homework: Children receive homework on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Homework set on Monday is due on Wednesday, homework set on Wednesday is due on Friday and homework set on Friday is due on Monday. Spellings are set on Friday to be tested on the next Friday.

Some children find it extremely beneficial to read their spellings with their parents/carers and your support in this is very welcome.

If you have any queries about your child please feel free to contact me. Sometimes conversations at the beginning of the day are not easy as lessons need to be started promptly so after school meetings would be preferable.

I look forward to the exciting term ahead with Class 4.

Mr Bonham
