Tudor Poems

In Big Writing the children composed poems about the experience of being a poor person in Tudor England. Here are some of the poems the children have written.

Help Me I am Poor

Rats found me,

Smelly streets.

The lights are dim,

The streets are grim.

Sitting down when down came a pot of dung.

I started to cry,

“I AM POOR!”

Poor People

I have mucky finger nails, please help!

I am wearing rags, please help!

I smell horrible, please help!

I am eating leftovers, please help!

I wish I could smell like one of you, please help!

I have greasy hair, please help!

I wish I could eat like one of you, please help!

I don’t want to be poor any more, PLEASE HELP!
