150th Anniversary

On Thursday the 11th of June, we celebrated Denver Primary School's 150th Anniversary.

For a long time, we have been preparing for the big day! Mr Lawrence has been doing filming throughout the school with current students and staff and past students and staff, creating a brilliant video about the history of the school that was available to watch on the day.

After months of preparation, the day arrived!

During the day, students celebrated with a lovely afternoon tea-inspired lunch prepared by Mrs Fenn, which included sandwiches, crisps, mini sausage rolls, salad sticks and a mini Victoria sponge! The students all loved it! Thank you to Mrs Fenn for creating a delicious lunch as always!

At 3pm, we had a very special show arrive! All the children squashed into Class One to watch a performance of Punch and Judy. They all very much enjoyed themselves, and had lots of laughs throughout.

At 3:30pm, the celebrations started! The weather wasn't on our side, but that didn't stop us from having an amazing time! In the school hall, there were several different stalls, including Blended Monkey (where the children could make clay sculptures), Flo Performing Arts (where students could watch an amazing acrobatics demo) and a sweets stall. At the back of the school hall, there was a board with many pictures and news articles from many different eras of the school, kindly brought in by previous students and staff.

Outside on the school field, there were several food and drink vans (including pizza and and ice cream van), a police car and some tractors for the children to explore, and some marquees to hide under from the rain.

Throughout the evening, our school time capsule was buried, and our amazing cake, baked by Mrs Fenn, was cut and quickly eaten by everyone.

We want to say a huge THANK YOU to the Friends of Denver School, staff, students and everyone who was involved with organising, setting up, participating and making the day the best that it could be!
