The Rocket

In the spring term the children were given lots of large boxes to use in their imaginative play.
After reading the story ‘Whatever Next’, two children set about making their own rocket. They designed their rocket and painted it.

A few days later, a window was added to the rocket to enable children to see out of the rocket. The rocket soon became a focal point in the classroom and many children played with the rocket.  Other children then decided the rocket need a door, so the window was enlarged and made into a door.
The rocket generated lots of discussion and saw the children working together and visiting many different locations, imaginative and real.

Over time the rocket was modified by different children and this saw many children working collaboratively together.  It was wonderful to see the children working and playing so enthusiastically.
